This position completes the psychological evaluations and the Forensic Court Reports for the Sexual Predator Treatment Program (SPTP). This position must have specialized knowledge of the full range of psychological services (evaluation, treatment planning, report writing, etc.) for patients in all Tiers and stages of the SPTP. Specific evaluation/assessment knowledge in a wide range of assessment techniques (e.g., mental status exams, personality testing, actuarial assessments, etc.) is required for this position.  This position must also be able to articulate/defend testing and subsequent evaluation conclusions as needed.

This position is accomplished through teleworking and availability by telephone.

Special Qualifications/Education:

  • Licensable in the state of Kansas at the Masters Level in Psychology.
  • Experience with the sexual offender population.

Preferred education or experience:

  • Experience and knowledge of sexual offender risk assessments.
  • Experience writing forensic evaluations.

 

Key Tasks/Duties: 

  50% 

Conducts Annual Examinations, Transitional Release, Conditional Release and Total Discharge evaluations for SPTP residents and testifying as needed:

  • Reviews past history data (e.g. Sexual Predator Evaluation, Psychological Assessments, past annual reviews, progress notes, etc.) for accuracy and clarity.
  • Offers interviews to each resident assigned and interviews those wishing to participate.
  • When applicable, ensures that a clinical interview, a mental status exam, psychological testing (as needed), and risk assessment tools are utilized in preparing annual reviews, evaluations and reports for submission to state district courts.
  • Composes annual reports for assigned residents and enters it into resident’s EMR for review.

Conducts psychological evaluations for SPTP residents:

  • Reviews past history data (e.g. Sexual Predator Evaluation, Psychological Assessments).
  • Interviews residents participating.
  • When applicable, ensures that a clinical interview, a mental status exam, appropriate psychological testing (as needed), and risk assessment tools are utilized in preparing psychological evaluations.
  • Composes psychological evaluations for assigned residents and enters it into resident’s EMR for review.

15%

Participation in the Progress Review Panel:

  • Attends the Progress Review Panel meetings as needed to provide feedback related to Annual Examinations, Transitional Release, Conditional Release and Total Discharge interviews.

10% 

Other Duties as Outlined by Supervisor:

  • Includes mandatory training sessions, training sessions relevant to current job duties, SPTP meetings.
  • Maintain Licensure as required by job description.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed or assigned.
