The North Dakota State Hospital is located in Jamestown, ND. The hospital provides short-term acute inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment, intermediate psycho-social rehabilitation services, forensic services, and safety net services for adults The hospital also provides residential addiction treatment services for adult male and female patients. Services are also provided to inpatient evaluation and treatment services for sexually dangerous individuals. This group of patients is housed and treated in the secure services unit of the North Dakota State Hospital.
Director of Psychology Requires a doctorate in clinical psychology and five years of experience providing services to the severely mentally ill, one of the years at upper level administrative/management in a large clinic, hospital, or mental health/human service center. Licensure to practice psychology in North Dakota is mandatory and will be verified by the employing agency as a condition of employment.
The Director of Psychology functions as a supervisor for the clinical and forensic psychologists and consulting forensic psychologists. The Director of Psychology also functions as the clinical director for the hospital with the expectation for quality oversight of chosen clinical best practices and fidelity measurement. This position also chairs the Medical Staff Quality Management committee and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff. This position also attends and participates in the statewide clinical directors group and represents the hospital for alignment of clinical best practices between the human service centers and the North Dakota State Hospital.
Psychologists complete psychological evaluations, individual therapy, behavioral modification support, consultation, completes psychiatric assessments and court testimony for initial and continuing treatment orders; court ordered guardianship's, competency, criminal responsibility, and sexually dangerous assessments and provides testimony for all. Psychologists also admit patients to the hospital, assess all patients for risk of suicide, manage seclusion and restraint or other types of interventions; and assist in unit management.
Salary Range: $74,605-$132,700/year
Clinical Psychologist will provide psychological assessment, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, guardianship assessments and civil commitment court work. The psychologist provides leadership and training with a multidisciplinary team, is a member of the hospital medical staff, and may, if interested, supervise students and provide paid on-call services for the hospital.
Qualifications Clinical Psychologist:
- Doctorate in Psychology - PhD/PsyD
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Psychologist by the ND Board of Psychologist Examiner
Forensic Psychologist will provide assessment to individuals for sexual dangerous, for competency and criminal responsibility, potential risk for violence, provide court testimony active leadership with the hospital, may supervise students if interested and provide paid on-call services.
Qualifications Forensic Psychologist:
- Doctorate in Psychology - PhD/PsyD
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Psychologist by the ND Board of Psychologist Examiners
- Three years experience as a Licensed Psychologist
