About Us:
New Paradigm Psychological Services (NPPS) is a forensic psychological practice that specializes in treating people who have committed sexual offenses or are struggling with sexual problems. We have a staff of licensed psychologists, licensed social workers, licensed mental health counselors, and qualified forensic interns and specialists. NPPS has a central office located in Albany, NY and satellite offices in Amsterdam, Glens Falls, Massena, Malone, and Plattsburgh, NY. We fully support diversity, inclusion, and equity. NPPS offers continued education in-house as well as opportunities for trainings given through the Office of Mental Health (OMH). The environment allows for clinical expression and growth in new areas that staff may be interested in (i.e., anger management, domestic violence). This extends to techniques used within the therapy room though we primarily utilize cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT), risk-need-responsivity (RNR), and motivational interviewing (MI) (i.e., trauma-informed, mindfulness).

Associate Psychologist
New Paradigm Psychological Services (NPPS) is seeking 1-2 permanent, full-time associate psychologists to provide sex offense-specific evaluations, assessments, and treatment in the community for persons who have committed or been accused of sexual offenses or suffer from problematic sexual urges and/or behaviors. Additional forensic evaluations are available as well.

Job duties include:

  • Assess sex offense treatment needs of clients
  • Develop individualized sex offense treatment plans
  • Re-evaluate client’s risk via biannual reports to be shared with referring individual/agency.
  • Administer, score, and interpret a variety of psychological assessment tools (e.g., personality tests, visual reaction time tests, actuarial assessments, risk assessments)
  • Facilitate group and individual sex offense treatment
  • Produce session notes for clients seen individually and in groups
  • Write psychological reports as assigned (e.g., court ordered evaluations, intake assessments, discharge summaries)
  • Maintain agency-required written documentation of treatment for clients
  • Collaboration with staff, families, attorneys, courts, and referring agencies (including parole, probation, OMH, and CPS).
  • Conduct evaluations for the court and/or other referring agencies (e.g., penile plethysmographs, ROSAC)
  • Management of deviant sexual interests through aversive reconditioning
  • Participate in clinical supervision
  • Work closely with psychologists in the ongoing development and implementation of an effective treatment program and assessments of persons who have committed or been accused of sexual offenses
  • Provide in-service training to staff and attendees at referring agencies
  • Maintain database as needed
  • Other job duties as assigned


  • A Doctoral degree in psychology
  • Recently licensed in NY or license-eligible
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Documentation of completed COVID-19 vaccination series


  • Specialization in forensic psychology
  • At least one year experience in a forensic setting
  • Experience in working with or assessing individuals convicted or accused of sexual offenses
  • Prior experience facilitating group therapy
  • Working knowledge of psychological assessments
  • Strong writing skills
  • Working knowledge of SPSS
  • Good communication skills
  • Minimum of two years commitment to NPPS1
  • Willingness to travel within New York State
