Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System is an integrated system of mental health care designed to provide a wide array of services within a multi-faceted system. Maintained within ELMHS are over 690 licensed inpatient psychiatric beds, affiliated community residential settings and outpatient services. ELMHS is a part of the Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Behavioral Health. The System is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO) and certified by the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS). ELMHS operates under two distinct licenses and collaborates with other state and licensed agencies to provide safe, quality care to referred patients from the entire state.
This position is specifically for the Forensic Sexual Behavior Program. This position will be working with Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System inpatient clients who have been identified as having sexual behavior problems.
The incumbent in this position will provide specialized counseling as a group leader in groups made up of persons with sexual behavior problems and mental illness with general supervision. Duties include, but are not limited to: Recommending, with general supervision, therapeutic intervention strategies and treatment approaches based on psychosexual assessment to an interdisciplinary team; Developing a working knowledge of correctional or community resources in order to recommend or refer offenders for specialized services; Attending and participating in community health related programs, in-services, continuing education and maintaining professional reading; and preparing reports, maintaining records and conducting correspondence relevant to area of specialty. The incumbent in this position may also assist in the training of staff regarding specialized area of expertise.
This position is in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and may be filled as a Social Worker 1, 2, 3 or 4 depending on the qualifications of the candidate selected. A master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW), Louisiana Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Louisiana Certified Social Worker (CSW) licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners is required for this job. The CSW is a temporary credential issued after the LA State Board of Social Work Examiners approves an application for LMSW. An applicant has six months from the date of initial CSW issuance to take the LMSW examination. If a passing score is not achieved, the CSW is required to retake the Masters examination within one year from the date the CSW failed the exam. CSW licensure must be renewed annually and can be held for a maximum of three years from the original date of issue of the CSW.
Permanent status will not be granted in this job title without LMSW or LCSW licensure; Certified Social Worker (CSW) credential will not be accepted for granting permanent status.
The master's degree in social work must be from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, 1701 Duke Street, Suite 200, Alexandria, VA 22314.
