The Illinois Department of Human Services Treatment & Detention Facility is a state-of-the-art secure residential treatment facility serving approximately 500 detained and civilly committed adult sexual offenders.
The facility offers a wide continuum of behavioral health services and sex offender-specific treatment. These clinical services are delivered by Liberty Healthcare’s dedicated and talented team which is comprised of over thirty psychologists, social workers, counselors, psychiatrists, and recreation therapists.
Located in Rushville, Illinois in west central Illinois, the facility is commutable from Macomb (home of Western Illinois University) and Springfield (the State Capital). Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis and the Quad Cities are all within a few hours drive.
Liberty Healthcare is proud to offer this exciting opportunity for licensed psychologist to join the leadership ranks of our multi-disciplinary team of over 30 clinicians in Illinois’ Sexually Violent Persons treatment program. Searching for a dynamic, motivated and experienced psychologist to help us achieve our goal of becoming one of the nation’s premier training and research programs for the treatment of sexual violence. The right candidate will direct our well-established APPIC approved Forensic Psychology Training Program that provides training for pre-doctoral psychology interns and post-doctoral fellows. The ideal candidate will also be an experienced researcher who is eager to lead the expansion of our existing research program, which currently generates 3-4 presentations / publications per year in the area of sex offender treatment.
This position provides clinical and psychological testing supervision to Pre-doctoral Psychology Interns, Postdoctoral Psychology Fellows, and Practicum students. The Director ensures the trainees provide quality care in the treatment of the sexual offending behaviors and oversees psychological assessment and report writing at the facility. The Director of Training and Research is an integral member of the clinical leadership team with key involvement in the day to day administration of the treatment program.
To be considered, applicants must have a minimum of three to five years post-licensure experience with significant experience providing clinical and psychological testing supervision in a training or mentoring capacity. Previous clinical experience with sex offender, forensic or correctional populations preferred, though individuals with interest in these populations will also be considered. Applicants should demonstrate a strong understanding of the principles of research design and data analysis and interpretation, as evidenced by significant publications and/or presentations of scientific research.
This position requires an individual with superb clinical, organizational and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build rapport with a wide range of personalities. An appreciation of the need for and ability to maintain appropriate personal boundaries in working with sexual offender populations is crucial, as is the Ability to form and maintain good working relationships with a diverse staff and a commitment to enhancing cultural competency.
