Juvenile Sex Offender Therapist

New Jersey MENTOR is a statewide human service agency that serves individuals with acquired brain injuries, mental retardation/developmental delays and children with emotional and behavioral problems in community based settings. We serve juvenile sex offenders in our 2nd Chance program. Our 2nd Chance clients are located in treatment foster care homes throughout the state. We also have a group home for 5 teenage males located in Lafayette. Our clients generally stay with us for about one year before they are reunified with their family or stepped down to a lower level of care. The majority of clients have had offender specific treatment prior to admission into our program. We have just been granted additional funding by the state to serve more of this population. Due to this growth, we are looking for additional therapists to provide offender specific treatment.

Therapist for Adolescent Juvenile Sex Offenders

Responsibilities:
We are looking for someone who can run groups and conduct individual therapy specific to the offender population. Clients are male/female and range in age from 8 - 19 years old. Therapists will be part of the treatment team and will write reports, develop protocols, conduct testing, attend court hearings, meet with hospital and state officials as well as outreach to other agencies when necessary. The therapist will repot to the Program Manager. Therapists would meet with clients in our Somerset and Mt. Laurel offices, as well as the Lafayette group home. Masters level clinical coordinators, also part of the program, will conduct traditional therapy with the clients.

Requirements:
Knowledge of offender specific instrumentation and risk assessment scales. Must have had prior experience working with juvenile offenders and their families due to contractual requirements with the state.

We offer supervision and are looking for someone who is team oriented and will work with operations to ensure ongoing communication and programmatic growth.
