Post Doctoral Fellow
Liberty Healthcare seeks applicants for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship in forensic psychology at the Illinois Department of Human Services Treatment & Detention Facility in Rushville, Illinois.
Rushville is located in west central Illinois – approximately 30 minutes from Macomb (home of Western Illinois University) and one hour from Springfield (the State Capital). Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis and the Quad Cities are all within a four hour radius.
The Treatment & Detention Facility houses a maximum-security inpatient treatment program for sexual offenders civilly committed or detained under Illinois' Sexually Violent Persons Act. Supervised training experiences include but are not limited to: intensive group treatment of sexually violent persons, treatment planning responsibilities with sexual offender population, paid off-site workshop training in forensic psychology and on-site didactic seminars. Experiential training in preparing and presenting sexually violent persons risk evaluations for court will also be offered.
This is a full-time position offering an annual stipend of $40,000 per year with full benefit package which including 6 weeks of annual paid time off, medical and dental insurance, paid training and relocation assistance. Fellows are permitted to work compressed four-day forty-hour workweeks. Fellows will receive priority consideration for continued employment beyond the one-year term based on position availability and successful completion of fellowship responsibilities.
The starting date for this fellowship is September, 2009. By the commencement of the fellowship, the incumbent must have successfully completed a pre-doctoral internship, successfully defended his/her dissertation, and obtained a doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. APA-accredited/APPIC training experiences and prior experience working with sexual offenders or similar forensic populations is preferred.
