Significant Achievement Award

The Significant Achievement Award may be granted to recognize an individual who, over the course of their career, has made an important contribution within the field of sexual abuse. This award recognizes individuals who have contributed to the state of knowledge the field of sexual abuse; the reduction or prevention of sexual abuse; or the development of initiatives or programs to assist abusers or victim/survivors. The Significant Achievement Award will be presented to an individual whose career work and dedication to this field has resulted in innovations that have resulted in advancing the safety and well being of those affected by sexual abuse and the larger community.

Criteria

The recipient of this award should be an individual who meets the following criteria:

  1. Whose contribution has enhanced the knowledge base in the field of sexual abuse;


  2. Whose influence has been exerted through leadership as an innovator, a teacher/mentor, theorist, a spokesperson, or as a developer of public policy regarding sexual abuse; and


  3. Whose work has contributed to enhanced community safety and wellness.

Members and non-members of ATSA are eligible for this award. Members of the Awards Committee and the ATSA Board of Directors shall be ineligible for nomination.

Nomination Procedures

Nominations are open to the Membership.

To nominate a candidate for the Significant Achievement Award:

  1. In a cover letter please describe the specific contributions that the nominee has made to the field.


  2. Submit a biographical sketch/resume of the nominee.


  3. Nominations must be submitted to Jacqueline Page, Psy.D., Awards Committee Chair, by April 15, 2008. Email to: jpage@utmem.edu

Decision and Presentation

The Awards Committee will review the nominees and make recommendations to the ATSA Board of Directors, who will vote on the presentation of the Award to the most appropriate and deserving nominee. The recipient will be informed by May, 2007 and the award will be presented as part of the conference program at the ATSA Annual Research and Treatment Conference in the Fall.

Award

  • Recipient would have expenses paid to the conference Air fare (comparable to a roundtrip ticket within North America), a maximum of five (5) nights lodging in the Conference headquarters hotel, Conference Registration). The recipient will also receive tickets to the Speaker Event, Student Reception, and Award Luncheon.
  • Recipient would receive an award figurine with inscription.
