Award for Distinguished Contributions to Community Service

The Distinguished Contributions to Community Service Award may be granted to recognize an individual who has made outstanding contributions in serving the community through selflessly dedicating their time, energy, knowledge and skills to support/facilitate community safety and abuse prevention.

Criteria

  1. The nominee must have made significant contributions to their community through a commitment to volunteering their time and skills to education and provide services to facilitate community awareness and safety in regards to sexual abuse issues;


  2. The nominee must be an active community member who has been involved in community activities supporting a healthy community, beyond the scope of their professional practice.

Members and non-members of ATSA are eligible for this award. Members of the Awards Committee and the ATSA Board of Directors shall be ineligible for nomination.

Nomination Procedures

Nominations are open to the Membership.

To nominate a candidate for the Distinguished Contributions to Community Service Award:

  1. Submit a biographical sketch/resume of the nominee.


  2. Describe the specific contributions that the nominee has made both professionally and personally towards participating in and contributing to the health and safety of their community.


  3. Include two letters of support from community members speaking to the nominee's contributions.


  4. Nominations must be submitted to Jacqueline Page, Psy.D., Awards Committee Chair, by April 30, 2010. Email to: jpage@uthsc.edu

Decision and Presentation

The Awards Committee will review the nominees and make recommendations to the Board of Directors of the ATSA, who will vote on the Award. The recipient will be informed by May 2009 and the award will be presented at the ATSA Annual Research and Treatment Conference in the Fall.

Award

  • A Recognition Award and a $500.00 donation in the recipient's name from ATSA to the charity of the recipient's choice.
  • Assistance to attend conference (amount of which would depend on if other awards are presented that year, e.g., conference fee waived, 2 nights hotel, a dollar figure to be applied to air fare). The recipient will also receive tickets to the Speaker Event, Student Reception, and Award Luncheon.
