ATSA's mission is to prevent sexual abuse through:

  • Sound research and education
  • Informed public policy
  • Effective assessment, & treatment and management of individuals at risk to sexually abuse
  • Collaborative partnerships that promote comprehensive prevention strategies

Within this mission, ATSA endeavors to provide accurate information related to key sex offender management strategies such as the civil commitment of sexual offenders. While not attempting to debate the overall merits of such a strategy, this series of educational briefs identifies the salient issues including controversies related to this topic, as well as providing information related to the implications of the sex offender treatment and management literature for this strategy.
